The Weber State women's basketball team improved to 3-2 on the season with an 81-69 win over the Air Force Academy.

The Wildcats had five players in double-digits led by sophomore guard Desiree Ramos who poured in 20 points, going 9-for-14 from the floor. Ramos added eight assists to her ledger as well.

Sophomore forward Jalen Carpenter added 14 points and 13 rebounds, picking up another double-double, her fourth of the season.

Sophomore Kalie Matthews scored 13 points while junior Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin and senior Amanda Hughes added 12 and 10 respectively.

The Wildcats shot 49.2 percent from the field, their best shooting percentage of the season. Air Force also shot well, going 27-of-61 from the floor to shoot 44.3 percent on the night.

The Wildcats got off to a quick start but the Falcons went on an 11-2 run late in the first half to take a 36-33 lead into halftime.

“I told the team (at half) we just needed to get stops,” head coach Bethann Ord said. “We did a much better job of that in the second half.”

Weber State held Air Force 34.3 percent shooting in the second half after the Falcons shot 57.7 percent in the first half.

The Wildcats outrebounded the Falcons, 40-33 and picked up eight steals to Air Force's six.

Weber State dominated in the paint, outscoring the Falcons, 34-22.

The Wildcats will hit the road for a game Sunday at San Diego before returning home on Saturday, December 7, to take on in-state foe Utah Valley. That tip time is set for 2 p.m.
