Another late run doomed the Weber State women's basketball team Monday night, leading to a 60-58 loss at Idaho State.
The Wildcats led for most of the game before Lindsey Reed, Idaho State's leading scorer, spurred on a Bengal run from about the five-minute mark to the two-minute mark.
Weber State went on a 6-0 run to pull back to within one point with just under two minutes left. Reed then led Idaho State on another quick run to put the Bengals up four points with under a minute left.
The Wildcats followed with a 4-0 run of their own to tie the game with 30 seconds left. That led to a Rebecca Schrimpsher jumper off the glass with 3.2 seconds left in the game.
A long Kalie Matthews three-pointer just missed at the buzzer to end the game.
Sophomore guard Regina Okoye led the Wildcats with 17 points. Desiree Ramos added 11 points for the Cats in the loss.
Reed finished as the game's leading scorer with 22.
Senior forward Amanda Hughes led the Wildcats with 7 rebounds and tied Kara Jenkins for the game high.
Both teams shot the ball fairly well with the Bengals edging out the Wildcats, shooting 43 percent to Weber State's 40.
The Wildcats outrebounded the Bengals, 38-36, but Idaho State shot 40 percent from three-point range to the Cats' eight percent. That was the difference in a very close game.
Weber State turned it over only 13 times to the Bengals' 17.
The Cats are now halfway through a four-game road trip. They will continue the trip on Thursday night with a game at Montana State at 7 p.m.
