OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State women's volleyball paid tribute to its five seniors on Saturday night. Audrey Biggs, Amber Garrett, Emily Hairgrove, Hannah Schorr and McKay Tarbox were all honored before the match. The Wildcats welcomed the Big Sky regular season champions, Idaho State, into a packed and rowdy Swenson Gym. The Bengals picked up their sixth consecutive victory over the Wildcats in just three sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21.

The loss drops the Wildcats record to 7-24, 3-13 in Big Sky Conference play.. The attendance of 812 was the biggest crowd recorded since a match against Brigham Young in 2007.

Even with the Wildcats having an advantage in statistics ranging from kills to digs, they were unable to put a complete match together.

“I think it was a typical up and down match for us,” WSU head coach Tom Peterson said. “But we fought back and actually had an early lead in the three set. Usually those ups even out at the end of the year.”

Both Ciera Borho and Biggs finished the match with 10 kills each. Biggs finishes her career tied for the 12th most blocks in school history with 1,020. She will also be the first Wildcat player lead the Big Sky in kills since Melissa Leonard in 2007.

Megan Thompson had a match-high three blocks and six kills. Those three block assists brought her season total to 121 which moved  her to 10th for most block assists in a season.

Tarbox finished with a match-high 15 digs, her 22nd match of the season with over 10 digs. She finishes her career with the fifth most digs in school history with 1,153. Her season total of 457 is good enough for sixth for most digs in a single season.

“I want to thank the crowd for coming to our matches,” said Peterson. “They are a wonderful support group. I am grateful for their support through thick and thin and we hope they keep coming back.”

That is the final match of the season for the Wildcats.
