Wildcats win 75-55 at Southern Utah

OGDEN – Weber State never trailed in route to a 75-55 win over Southern Utah Thursday night in Cedar City.
The win moves the Wildcats to 14-7 overall and 11-2 in Big Sky play as they maintain their three-game lead in the conference standings with seven games remaining.
WSU started the game making seven of their first eight shots and jumped out to an early 22-10 lead and would never look back. They built a 17-point lead in the first half and shot 62 percent from the field.
Southern Utah started the second half on a 12-2 run and cut the lead to six points early in the second half. Â The 'Cats led by nine points with 14:48 to play, when they responded with an 18-7 run to take a 20-point lead with 7:00 remaining. Davion Berry scored 12 points during that stretch for the Wildcats.
Weber State shot 60 percent from the field, compared to 38 percent for the Thunderbirds. The 'Cats were also 10 of 17 from 3-point range and outrebounded SUU 31-20.
"We came out with really good energy in the first half and really shot the ball well," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "We let them come back a little bit in the second half but finished strong and were able to find a way to win."
Berry led the 'Cats with 23 points on 7 of 10 shooting to go along with four rebounds and three assists. He has scored 20 or more points in eight of the last nine games.
"We got after it tonight, especially in rebounding and on defense," Berry added. "We had some turnovers that let them make a run but we responded well and moved the ball really well."
Kyle Tresnak added 12 points on 6 of 7 shooting and Joel Bolomboy added nine points and nine rebounds.
The Wildcats continue their four-game road trip Monday night at Idaho State. They will play at Montana and Montana State next weekend.Â
