Wildcats drop match in three sets to Idaho State

POCATELLO, Idaho –The Weber State women's volleyball woes in Pocatello continued on Saturday night as they dropped a three set match to Idaho State, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19. The Wildcats hadn't won in Pocatello since 2007 and they will have to wait another year to end the streak.
The loss drops the Wildcats record to 3-12, 0-2 in Big Sky conference play.
Audrey Biggs was unable to find a groove as she was held under 10 kills for the first time this season. Biggs had 9 kills, 4 digs, and 4 blocks but only hit .111 during the match. Samantha Staker gave the Wildcats a boost with season-high 5 kills and hit .571. Megan Thompson led the team with 5 blocks and added 3 kills. McKay Tarbox had a match-high 14 digs while Taylor Christensen added 21 assists.
Audrey Hunter picked up one block assists in the match which brings her one away from earning her a spot on the top 10 all-time record list.
“On the positive side, if we would have been able to even on them with serves and serves received,” WSU head coach Tom Peterson said. “We would have had a chance to win that match. On the negative side, we didn't pass well at all as a team. We didn't serve as aggressive as they did, so we didn't get that chance to see if we could have won the match.”
The Bengals were able to dominate the Wildcats in almost every statistical category. The Bengals outhit the Wildcats 43-28 while holding a narrow advantage in hitting percentage with .144 to .100. But the Wildcats were able to contain Tressa Lyman to only 7 kills. The home crowd was hoping to see her be the 11th Bengal to reach 1,000 kills in her career.
The Wildcats next two matches will be on the road as they face Portland State on Thursday, October 2nd then Sacramento State on Saturday, October 4th.
