GREELEY, Colo – Weber State women's volleyball fell to Northern Colorado Saturday afternoon in three sets. Several Wildcats put up good numbers to contribute to close scores in all three sets.

"I enjoyed the way we worked," head coach Jeremiah Larsen said. "We were a couple of plays away in each game from getting a different outcome. We are going from having A LOT of things to work on to three or four things. I am proud of the way our girls are developing."

In the first set of play the Bears jumped out to an early 10-5 lead.  UNC continued its attack and maintained the lead for the rest of the set.  Ciera Borho had a kill that brought the score within two at 20-18. Weber State had several attack errors that ended the first set 25-20.

Weber State still couldn't find any footing in the second set and fell behind 5-0. The Wildcats went on an 8-3 run bringing the score 12-10. The Bears never let go of their lead and increased it to 20-16. To make things interesting Weber State went on a scoring streak, two kills by Amanda Varley and one by Andrea Hale brought the score to 24-23 but UNC came through at game point claiming set two 25-23.

The third set of play proved to be the battle of the match. The game started out neck and neck. There were eight tied scores and five lead changes in the third game.  With the set tied at 12-12, the Bears had three consecutive kills but the Wildcats answered that with three kills by Hale. WSU kept the score within three points but couldn't take the lead and fell 25-23. Weber State had its best hitting percentage in the third set with .265 and only four errors.

Weber State was led by Varley who had 14 kills and 31 attacks for a .355 percentage. Hale and Megan Thompson also put up good numbers with six kills each. Hale had the game high percentage with .444 and Thompson had a .286 percentage. Weber State accumulated 38 digs and eight team blocks. The Wildcats only had 19 attack errors to the Bears 21.

Weber State is now 5-12 on the season and 1-5 in Big Sky Conference play. WSU will remain on the road to take on Northern Arizona and Southern Utah before returning home for five consecutive matches.
