Weber State takes down Stephen F. Austin 56-46

Denton, Texas – Weber State women's basketball team is on a four game winning streak and remain undefeated on the road after taking down Stephen F. Austin Saturday afternoon 56-46 in the Hospitality Hill Tournament.
"This is a huge win for our team and program," head coach Bethann Ord said. "SFA is a good team that's been very successful the past few years and will most likely have a quality season. Plus we were given difficult circumstances in this tournament, my kids rose above the adversity and found a way to win."
Early in the first quarter Weber State fell behind 7-3. A jump shot by Regina Okoye and layup by Jocelyn Adams tied the game up at 7-7 with 5:41 on the clock. The scored remained within two points for the rest of the quarter before a made three pointer by Kailie Quinn tied it up to end the quarter at 14-14.
The second quarter was similar to the first. Both teams switching back and forth with the lead. With the score tied at 26-26, Brittney Dunbar drained a three pointer and a jumper by Quinn helped edge the Wildcats to a 31-28 lead going into half time.
The third quarter started out with a three minute scoring drought from both teams. The Wildcats ended the drought first, with a jumper by Deeshyra Thomas giving the Wildcats a five point lead. The Ladyjacks made a surge for a comeback claiming the lead for the first time in the third quarter with 46 seconds left on the clock. The lead didn't last long as a jumper by Adams with 18 seconds left gave Weber State a 39-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Weber State started the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run, not allowing SFA a basket for four minutes. With 3:14 left in the game WSU had a 48-41 lead over the Ladyjacks. The Wildcats went on an 8-5 run to end the game with a final score of 56-46.
Quinn led the Wildcats with 17 points and four assists. Adams also scored in double digits with 16 points for a new career high, she also pulled down seven rebounds. Thomas and Okoye led Weber State in rebounding pulling down eight each, a new career high for Thomas. Okoye had four steals.
Weber State shot 39 percent from the field, 27 percent from the three and 44 percent from the free throw line. WSU had 14 turnovers to SFA's 12. SFA shot 32 percent from the field, 36 percent from the three and 47 percent from the free throw line. The Wildcats had the lead for over 26 minutes throughout the game's duration.
Weber State remains undefeated on the road with a 5-0 record and a 6-1 record overall. The Wildcats are on a four game winning streak. Weber State will return home after four straight road games to take on in-state rival BYU on Dec. 10 and Utah Valley on Dec. 12.
