Ogden, Utah – Weber State women's basketball team's four game winning streak came to an end Thursday night as they fell 68-51 to Brigham Young University. 

"The team fought really hard tonight," said head coach Bethann Ord. "BYU is a really good team,  but we never faltered. We continued to work. We're going to see what we're made of as we have a quick turn around as we get ready for Utah Valley Saturday." 

In the first quarter Weber State struggled to get the ball moving and BYU claimed an 11-2 lead. The Wildcats ended the quarter with a 10-6 run and brought the score to 17-12.

Weber State went on an 8-0 run early in the second quarter claiming a 20-19 lead. The first Wildcat lead of the game with 6:28 on the game clock. BYU's Lexi Rydalch got into foul trouble allowing Weber State to keep the score within one point for the rest of the quarter. The Cougars went on a 5-0 run to end the quarter for a 30-26 lead going into half time.

Weber State shot 42.9 percent from the three in the first half and 41 percent from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line. While BYU was shooting 50 percent from the three and the field but did not make a single free throw.

Early in the third quarter BYU increased their lead to 10 points with a 42-32 score.  Weber State trailed 53-42 at the end of the third quarter.

Weber State pushed in the fourth quarter and brought the score within five but BYU went on a 5-0 run pushing their lead back to 10. In the four quarter WSU went on a four minute scoring drought that ended with a made free throw by Deeshyra Thomas. In the last seven minutes of the game Weber State went 1-11.

BYU claimed the victory a 68-51 victory over WSU ending the Wildcats four game winning streak.

Weber State was led by Regina Okoye who had 18 points. Brittney Dunbar also scored in double digits having 11 including 3-3 from beyond the arc. Dunbar and Okoye each had three assists. Jocelyn Adams was the top rebounder of the night as she pulled down seven. Dunbar had four steals and Okoye added three.

Weber State is now 6-2 on the season and will take on in-state rival Utah Valley Saturday Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. before traveling to University of Washington on Dec. 21.
