Weber State falls 56-52 to NAU

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Weber State University's women's basketball team ended a three game winning streak by falling 56-52 to Northern Arizona.
The Wildcats fell behind 16-10 early in the first half. They went on an 11-0 run and took a 21-16 lead with 7:19 left in the half. Both teams went on a five minute scoring drought before Weber State sank five free throws to end the half with a 26-22 lead over the Lumberjacks.
The second half was neck and neck. NAU came out scored Weber State 16-12 to start the half off. With 10:50 on the clock the score was tied 38-38. The Wildcats then went on a 6-0 run. NAU came back and tied the game with two minutes left but continued their run by ending the game with a 56-52 win over the Wildcats.
Weber State had two Wildcats in double digits. Jalen Carpenter led the Wildcats with 16 points and Carlee Lough had 12. Tinisha Toussaint had a season high of eight points. Junior Regina Okoye had five steals against the Lumberjacks. Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin led the team in rebounding with eight.
Weber State shot 34 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from the three and 60 percent from the free throw line. Weber State pulled down 34 rebounds to NAU's 33. The Wildcats had 17 turnovers and the Lumberjacks converted those turnovers into 18 points.
The Lumberjacks had two players in double figures. Brittani Lusain led NAU with 14 points. Raven Anderson added 12 for the Lumberjacks. NAU shot 40.9 percent from the field, 25 percent from the three and 73.9 percent from the free throw line.
The Wildcats are now 6-7 in Big Sky Conference and 11-13 overall on the season. The last home games of the season will be Thursday February 19 against Montana State and Saturday February 21 against Montana for senior night.
