Weber State suffers 63-56 loss to Idaho State

Weber State University's women's basketball team fell short against Idaho State falling 63-56 Saturday afternoon.
The Bengals took off on a 9-0 run early in the first half. The Wildcats tried to catch up but couldn't as Idaho State maintained a 10 point lead going into half-time. Weber State trailed by 13 with 4:38 left on the clock. The Wildcats then went on a 12-3 run bringing the score within three with 57 seconds left in the game. Idaho State's Grace Kenyon and Rebecca Schrimpsher sank two free throws a piece sending the Bengals to the 63-56 victory.
Weber State was led by Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin who had 13 points. Jalen Carpenter had her ninth double double on the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Jocelyn Adams added eight points for the Wildcats and shot 4-4 from the free throw line. Brittney Dunbar had three assists.
Weber State shot 38.5 percent from the field and 57.7 percent from the free throw line. Weber State was outrebounded by Idaho State 37-34. Both teams combined for 37 turnovers.
Idaho State had four players in double figures and were led by Apiphany Woods who had 14 points. The Bengals shot 38 percent from the field, 44 percent from the three and 74.2 percent from the free throw line and score 16 points off of Weber State's turnovers.
The Wildcats are now 6-10 in Big Sky Conference and 11-16 overall on the season. Weber State will continue Big Sky play by staying on the road to Idaho on Thursday March 5 at 7 p.m. Eastern Washington Saturday March 7 at 2 p.m. for the final games of the season.
