Wendy Compton was a talented four-year star for the Weber State tennis program, and holds the record for most wins by a single tennis player with an impressive 104-27 overall mark.
Compton, an Orpington Kent, England, native, Compton played for Coach Keith Cox and the Wildcats from 1986 to 1989, and earned All-Big Sky Conference honors each season. Along the way, Compton earned Big Sky All-Academic honors in 1987-89.
Compton won the No. 5 singles title in 1986, the No. 2 singles crown in 1987, the No. 4 singles title in 1988, and the No. 3 singles title in 1989. She also was the No. 3 doubles champion in 1988 and 1989. Compton was named the Big Sky Conference MVP following the 1989 season.
For her all-around performance, Compton was named to the All-Big Sky Conference All-Decade Team in 1989. She earned Big Sky athlete of the week honors three times.
Compton was the United States Intermountain Open women's singles champion in 1988.
Later, Compton joined the WSU coaching staff, and was named NCAA District 7 assistant coach of the year for men's tennis in 1997.
