Keith Cox was the head coach of the Weber State men's tennis team for 29 seasons, and head coach of the WSU women's tennis team for 24 seasons. He guided the men to 11 Big Sky Conference championships with an overall record of 400-372 in dual matches. He earned Big Sky coach of the year honors 11 times.
Cox's men's teams won seven straight Big Sky titles from 1983 to 1989.
Cox led the WSU women to 10 Big Sky championships, with a dual-match record of 308-234. The Wildcats won nine out of 10 league titles from 1983 to 1992, earning him Big Sky coach of the year honors eight times.
In 1988-89, Cox was tabbed as the men's District Seven and women's Central Region coach of the year, a first in NCAA tennis. He posted a combined dual-match record of 697-594
Along the way, Cox coached 69 Big Sky singles champions and 29 doubles champions. He sent five different players to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championship.
Cox became the first coach in Big Sky history to take a men's team to the NCAA postseason tournament in 1983. He also led the WSU women to the NCAA West Region Championship in 2000, a first in school history.
Cox played tennis at Weber State College from 1966 to 1969, and was a two-time Big Sky doubles champion.
On the national level, Cox served regionally and nationally, including a four-time chairmanship of the District Seven Tennis Committee. He is a certified teaching professional and former USTA Intermountain Sectional men's singles champion in the ages 35-and-over division.
