Men's Basketball (1990-91 and 1993-96)

  Payson High School product Jimmy DeGraffenried starred for Weber State men's basketball in 1990-91 and 1993 through 1996. During his hoops career, he was twice named to the All-Big Sky Conference Team (1995-96), was twice named to the Big Sky All-Academic Team (1995-96), and was named the Big Sky Conference Most Valuable Player in 1996.

   DeGraffenried, during his playing career as a 'Cat, held several Big Sky season and career marks, including: free-throw percentage -- .854 (6th all-time); 3-pointers made – 70 (1995); free throws, single game – (15 of 15 vs. Alaska-Anchorage, 1996); scoring, all games (1996), and free throw leader (1991, 1996).

   His name also dots the Weber State record books, including free-throw percentage -- 15-15 (1996); career scoring – 1,624 points (13th); season scoring – 637, 21.2 points per game (6th, 1996); and career rebounding – 537 (15th)

   After college, Jimmy played basketball in New Zealand for the Waikato Warriors where he was the league's leading scorer and MVP. He played In Sweden for the Sodertalje Kings where he led the league that season in 3-point percentage. He also had a pair of short contracts with teams in Taiwan and France for a couple of years.

   DeGraffenried returned to Utah County and lives in Santaquin with his wife Heidi and children Jeffrey, Benjamin, Madi, Luke and Sophie. He is a general contraction and owner of Lifetime Homes Construction. He also is a partner/owner with The Property Place, and organization of real estate, mortgage and construction companies. He also has been a coach with the Payson High basketball team for several years.
