Mark Wayment continued Weber State's proud heritage in the steeplechase, earning All-America honors in the 3,000-meter event at the 1985 and 1986 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Wayment came to Weber State from Clearfield, Utah, and through his career was a points contributor for the cross country, indoor and outdoor distance teams. Wayment was a four-time All-Big Sky Conference honoree in the steeplechase, winning the conference championship in 1985. Wayment also earned four Big Sky Academic All-Conference Team awards.
Wayment was a member of WSU's distance medley relay team which won the Big Sky title in 1984.
In 1985, Wayment was named team MVP on the cross country squad as well as the track and field team. In 1980, Wayment competed in the Junior AAU Nationals, finishing as the bronze medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Wayment is a successful insurance agent in northern Utah. He and his wife Becky are the parents of five children.
