Elizabeth Ward Kealamakia

Women's Track and Field (1989-92)

Inducted February 2003

Elizabeth Ward came to Weber State in 1989, after a stellar prep career in Malad, Idaho. During her three-year running career, Ward Kealamakia rewrote the WSU and Big Sky Conference record books in track and field events.

As the dominant female athlete in the Big Sky Conference in the 1990s, she led the Wildcats to four Big Sky Conference Championships (1991 and 1992 indoor titles, and 1991 and 1992 outdoor crowns), while setting seven Weber State school records, several of which still stand.

Elizabeth is the only female athlete in Big Sky history to win four individual outdoor titles 1992 (claiming the 100-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters and triple jump) to score 40 points in a meet, tops on the league charts. She also was a member of two winning relay teams during that meet (4X100 and 4X400 relays) to account for six first-place finishes in the outdoor championships.

During her three years of competition, Ward Kealamakia accumulated 50 indoor points and 70 outdoor points to go with seven Weber State records: Indoor 200 (24.00), indoor 400 (54.31), indoor long jump (19-8), indoor triple jump (40-0), outdoor 200 (23.80), outdoor long jump (19-8), and outdoor triple jump (40-10.25

She finished her career No. 2 on the all-time BSC list in the 200 meters, and No. 4 for the 400 meters. Besides earning an impressive six All-Big Sky Conference honors in three years, Ward Kealamakia also was honored on the Big Sky's All-Academic Team all three years.

She capped her career by competing in the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 400 meters in 1991, and the 1992 Indoor Championships in the 200 meters.
