Kathy Miller

Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Softball (1976-1979)

Inducted January 1989

Kathy Miller was a four-time Intermountain Athletic Conference All-Conference and All-Region 7 basketball standout for the Wildcats.

The Ogden native was a finalist for the Wade Trophy -- presented annually to the best women's college basketball player – in 1978 and 1979. At 5-foot-6, Kathy was the conference scoring leader for each of the four years she played basketball, and finished her stellar career at Weber State as the school's all-time scoring leader with 2,745 points to go with a 27.5 points per game scoring average.

Miller's career scoring average ranks third on the NCAA Division I women's all-time scoring average charts. She also owns the WSU single-game scoring record with a 50-point performance against Utah State on Dec. 16, 1976.

Miller owns eight of the top-10 single-game scoring efforts for Weber State. Playing for Coach Jane Miner, Miller finished among the school's all-time career leaders in rebounds (1,296) rebounds average (13.0 per game) and career field goals (1,082 made/2,274 attempted).

“One of the important things to remember about Kathy,” Coach Miner said, “is that she played a 'big' position and is only 5 feet, six inches tall. She is smaller than most guards in the conference, and played the forward position better than any big player.”

Miller, who was a multi-sports star at Ogden High, also played on Weber State's volleyball and softball squads in the late 1970s. She was a four-time all-conference honoree in softball. Kathy is the WSU career batting average leader with a .376 percentage.

“Kathy is the finest shooter I have ever seen – she has perfect concentration and great anticipation,” Miner added.
