Football (1965-67)

  Jim Schmedding was a top football performer for Coach Sark Arslanian's Wildcats, earning Big Sky Conference and national honors in the process.

  Schmedding, a 6-foot-2, 250-pounder from Atherton, California, earned Associated Press First Team All-America honors as an offensive guard in 1967. Schmedding claimed All-Big Sky Conference first team honors as a tackle in 1966, and as a guard in 1967.

  Schmedding, who transferred to Weber State from San Mateo Junior College, was named to the Big Sky Conference Silver Anniversary Team in 1988.

  Schmedding signed a contract with the Chicago Bears of the NFL, then played three seasons (1968-70) with the San Diego Chargers with the AFL.
