Men's Track and Field (1978-80)

Inducted January 1995

   Swanger starred on the Weber State track and field squads during his career, achieving national success in the decathlon and javelin events. A local product out of Bonneville High School, Swanger finished third overall in the decathlon competition at the 1979 NCAA Championships, earning First Team All-America honors. Swanger followed that up with another third-place effort at the 1980 NCAA Championships to again claim First Team All-America honors.

    Swanger was the Big Sky Conference in the javelin in 1979, and was the Big Sky champion in the decathlon in 1980. He was the Weber State record-holder in the decathlon with 7,647 points.
