Wallace Floyd Morris
Football (1924-25)
Inducted February 1997
Wallace Morris earned distinction on the football field, but it was his nickname that continues to live on in Weber State lore.
Morris, originally from Ogden, Utah, was the starting left tackle for Coach Merlon Stevenson during the mid-1920s. In 1925, with Morris leading the way, the Wildcats won the Western State Junior College Championship, defeating Phoenix College 32-0 in the final.
For his exploits, Morris was named Junior College All-American. Morris' nickname was “Wildcat,” and the Weber State mascot was soon named in his honor.
Morris passed away in 1997 at age 94.
