Chris Thornock earned the title “Miss Weber State” through her exploits on several athletic teams in the 1970s, then became the school's softball head coach.
Thornock, who hailed from Clearfield, Utah, earned four varsity letters each in basketball and volleyball, and added three softball letters. In 1977, her senior season, Thornock was named Weber State's Scholar-Athlete and Outstanding Senior Athlete.
Thornock was Weber State's MVP on the 1976 volleyball team from her setter position. She served as team captain in 1975 and 1978.
During her basketball career, the 5-foot-5 Thornock scored a career best 25 points on a 10-for-11 field goals and 5-for-5 free throws effort.
In softball, Thornock set a national batting average record of .900 in 1977.
Thornock returned to take over as Weber State's softball coach for four season. She was named Intermountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1979.
She also served as an athletic trainer at WSU.
