OGDEN, Utah – A new head coach and four non-conference tournaments are just two of the highlights of the upcoming 2015 season for the Weber State University women's volleyball team.
Weber State head coach, Jeremiah Larsen, entering his first season as the Wildcat's top man, hopes the schedule he has put together will help prepare his team for the conference season and the future.
"The schedule will give us the opportunity to grow as a team," Larsen said. "We will be challenged by every program, and if we approach the season with the proper mindset then we can continue building our foundation for the future."
Weber State will open the 2015 season at the San Jose State Invitational on Friday, Aug. 29, against the University of California-Riverside in San Jose, Calif. The Wildcats will also face Santa Clara and San Jose State.
The Wilcats will particpate in three different tournaments which will be hosted by Bradley University, Air Force and the University of Nevada-Reno. During those tournaments they will play Manhattan, Bradley, UMASS Lowell, George Mason and UC Riverside for the first time in program history. The lone non-conference home match will come against in-state rival Utah Valley on Oct. 26 at the Swenson Gym.
Weber State will open Big Sky Conference play against Montana on Sept. 23 in Missoula, Mont. Their first home match will be on Oct. 1 against Portland State.
The Big Sky Conference tournament will be Nov. 19-21, with the top eight regular season finishers advancing to the postseason tournament hosted by the top seed.
