POCATELLO, Idaho – Weber State continued Big Sky Conference play Saturday evening as they fell 3-0 to Idaho State.

"Idaho State is a good team and we aren't ready to play at that level yet." Head Coach Jeremiah Larsen said. "We will learn from this experience to make us better as we move forward from here."

In the first set, Idaho State took a 5-1 lead. Weber State struggled to keep up and was limited to only nine kills. The Wildcats made a push in the middle of set to bring the score within three but the Bengals intensified their attack and claimed the set 25-16.

Weber State found more of a rhythm in the second, and started the set with two consecutive points following a kill from Megan Thompson and a service ace from Samantha Staker. Idaho State claimed a 13-7 lead before the Wildcats went on a 12-6 run to tie the match up 19-all. ISU responded and finished the set on a 6-3 run to win 25-22. WSU trailed 0-2 going into the third set.

In the final set of the match, the Bengals opened with a 7-2 run and never allowed WSU to close the gap, cruising to the 25-15 set win.

Amanda Varley led the Wildcats with nine kills. Samantha Staker had five. Thompson had two service aces. Taylor Christensen-Kinikini had 24 assists while Thamires Cavalcanti had 15 digs.

Weber State is now 5-8 on the season and 1-1 in the Big Sky Conference. The Wildcats have the first home games of the season as they take on Portland State on Thursday and Sacramento State on Saturday.
