Wildcats pick up 76-56 win over Northern Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz – Weber State women's basketball picked up a big 76-56 win over Northern Arizona Thursday night. Weber State had three players score in double figures and several Wildcats set new career records.

Weber State was led by Kailie Quinn who had seven made three pointers for a new career high of 26 points. Quinn broke the Skydome record in three-pointers made in a game and three-pointers attempted in a game. She shot 7-14 for 50 percent on the night.

Brittney Dunbar broke the Skydome and a Weber State school record for most steals in a game with her 11. The record was previously held by Regina Okoye who had 10 against San Diego in the 2014-15 season. Dunbar also had the game high of five assists.

Freshman Emily Drake had 12 points and 11 rebounds a career high in both stats and her first double-double. Drake's 11 rebounds was the game high for the Wildcats.  Yarden Danan also scored in double figures having 10 points on the night.

"I am so incredibly proud of this group, opportunity presented itself and they all absolutely rose to the occasion," head coach Bethann Ord said. "Our defensive pressure had a significant impact on this game and our overall effort and execution on that end of the floor was impressive. This is another huge road win and we will enjoy it but SUU now has our full attention."

Weber State started the first quarter on a 5-0 run and ended the quarter on a three minute scoring drought. It was a low scoring quarter for both teams as they ended the first quarter with a 9-6 score in favor of the Wildcats.

The Wildcats came out in the second quarter and increased their lead to 12 points. Weber State maintained that lead going into half time with a 28-17 score.

Weber State wasn't letting Northern Arizona making any headway in the third quarter as they had an eleven point lead going into the final quarter of the game.

The fourth quarter Weber State pushed their lead to 20 points and with five minutes left in the game the Wildcats went on an 11-0 run. The Wildcats ended the game making only one of their last five shots but still came out with a 76-56 win over the Lumberjacks.

Weber State shot 37.9 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three point line and 71 percent from the free throw line. Weber State had the lead for 39 minutes of the game. The Wildcats had 20 turnovers to the Lumberjacks 28. Northern Arizona shot 31 percent from the field, eight percent from the three and 88 percent from the free throw line. NAU out rebounded WSU 44-40.

The Wildcats are now 13-5 overall on the season and 5-2 in the Big Sky Conference. They will next take on Southern Utah before returning home to host Northern Colorado and North Dakota.
