Weber State falls to Sac State 64-87

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Weber State women's basketball fell to Sacramento State 64-87 Thursday night but still had four players score in double figures.
"Sac State played a great game tonight and we didn't take care of the ball the way we need to," head coach Bethann Ord said. "They converted on our turnovers taking it at the rim. We have some things to tighten up before Saturday. We have a few days to get prepared for Portland State and better bring it for a battle."
The game started out rough for the Wildcats as the Hornets jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. Weber State fought to keep the score close but Sac State pushed through for a 22-9 score at the end of the first quarter.
Sac State pushed their lead to 20 in the second quarter but Weber State pushed back for a 43-30 score.
Weber State started the third quarter on a 10-4 run but couldn't maintain as the Hornets ended the quarter on a 9-2 run for a 66-52 lead.
The Hornets ended the game on an 11-0 run for a final score of 64-87.
Weber State had four Wildcats score in double figures. The Wildcats were led by Deeshyra Thomas who had 18 points and the game high of nine rebounds. Thomas was followed by Emily Drake who tied her career high of 15 points, Brittney Dunbar with 13 points and Kailie Quinn with 11.
Dunbar also had the game high in assists with seven and steals with two.
The Wildcats shot 41 percent from the field, 26 percent from the three, and 76 percent from the free throw line. The Wildcats out rebounded Sacramento State 41-33. Sacramento State shot 47 percent from the field, 32 percent from the three and 68 percent from the free throw line. Sacramento State had 15 turnovers to Weber State's 24.
The Wildcats are now 15-7 overall on the season and 7-4 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats remain on the road as they head to Portland State Saturday.
