For the second time during this outdoor season, Weber State junior Ellie Child has earned Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors. Child was honored as the conference Women's Athlete of the Week Monday after her performance in California last week.
Child, a native of Kaysville, Utah, posted a career best time of 10:09.68 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Mt. Sac Relays last week. She was the second collegiate finisher in the invite elite section. That time now ranks as the best in the Big Sky this season. It is also the ninth best in the NCAA West region and is the 17th best in the country.
In addition, Child's time is also the fifth best in Weber State history and the eighth fastest in Big Sky Conference history. Child has earned All-Big Sky honors three times in cross country and indoor track this season, including winning the Big Sky title in the 3,000 meters at the indoor championships.
