MACOMB, Ill. – Weber State volleyball took down Southeast Missouri State in four sets Friday afternoon for the Wildcats' seventh consecutive win.

In the first set the teams started out matching each other point for point and were tied at 8-8.  The Wildcats then went on a 17-5 run to end the set with a 25-13 score. The final three points of the match were two kills from freshman Rylin Roberts and a service ace by freshman Megan Gneiting.

The second set did not start in favor of the Wildcats as they fell behind 11-3.  The Redhawks capitalized on the lead and propelled themselves to a 25-16 victory in the second set, leaving the two teams tied at one set each going into the break.

The third set the two teams wound up tied at 8-8 again and remained within three points for the latter part of the set but a block by Roberts and Aubrey Saunders tied the match up at 22-22. Weber State claimed the third set victory thanks to three SEMO errors. WSU had the 2-1 advantage going into the fourth set of the match.

Weber Stated started the fourth set off slowly falling behind 7-10. The Wildcats fought back as they then went on an 18-3 run to end the set for a 25-13 win and a 3-1 overall match victory.

Gneiting led the Wildcats with 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Roberts also had double digit kills with 12, her fifth time this season with double figure kills.  Bailey Irwin had a new career high of assists with 44 on the night. Jesse Hover led Weber State with 19 digs and Thamires Cavalcanti also had double digit digs with 12. Megan Thompson had five blocks on the night with five including two solo blocks and Saunders also had five blocks.

Weber State had 48 kills to Southeast Missouri's 46. The Wildcats hit .239 on the match while the Redhawks hit .121.  WSU had 56 digs to SEMO's 67 but WSU had 20 blocks and 13 team blocks to Southeast Missouri's 10 blocks and six team blocks.

Weber State remains undefeated on the season with a 7-0 overall record. They will take on Drake and Western Illinois tomorrow in the last two games of the Hampton Inn Invitational. Weber State starts Big Sky Conference play in the home opener of the season Sept. 23.
