Jay Hill signs contract extension at Weber State

OGDEN - Weber State Athletics has announced a contract extension for Wildcat football head coach Jay Hill that will keep him on the sidelines at Weber State through the 2023 season.Â
Hill signed a five-year contract extension in January 2017. This new extension adds two years to his previous contract and keeps him employed at Weber State for the next six seasons. Â
"I'm so excited about our football program and the direction we are heading," Hill said. "The Weber State administration has been dedicated to helping us get to where we all wanted to be and their support has been awesome. I am so happy for the players, coaches and the Weber State community and I'm thrilled to build on what we've accomplished."
Hill, 42, is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats and this year has led Weber State to its best season ever. The Wildcats have won a school-record 11 wins and won two games in the FCS Playoffs for the first time ever. Hill also led Weber State to a the Big Sky Conference title and a top-10 national ranking.Â
This year's Wildcat team is 11-2 heading into the quarterfinals of the playoffs at No. 1 James Madison on Friday. The Wildcats also had 17 players earned All-Big Sky honors, including a league-best eight on the first team.Â
Hill currently has a 26-22 overall record at Weber State and is 20-12 in Big Sky Conference games. He currently has the best winning percentage in WSU history in conference games and has the second-highest overall winning percentage.Â
He has guided Weber State to three-straight winning seasons and over the last three seasons has an overall record of 24-12 and is 18-6 in Big Sky games.Â
"Jay has done an incredible job in his four seasons at Weber State and is a proven commodity," said Jerry Bovee, Weber State Director of Athletics. "Extending him to a six-year contract will continue to provide stability in our program and I'm excited to work with coach Hill on continuing to build Wildcat football."
