Weber State falls 64-36 to VCU

Weber State women's basketball had a slow first half and couldn't make it up as they fell 64-36 to Virginia Commonwealth in the first game of the University of Texas San Antonio tournament.
WSU was only trailing 11-7 at the end of the first quarter. Weber State only managed to come up with three points in the second quarter and trailed 26-10 going into half time.
The Wildcats had a much better third quarter putting up 16 points but unfortunately couldn't make up the deficit. WSU went into the fourth quarter trailing 26-47. Weber State couldn't ever close the gap and ended up falling 64-36.
Weber State was led by Kayla Watkins who had 12 points. Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman also scored in double figures with 10. Dominique Williams pulled down 10 rebounds for the game high.
Weber State shot 22 percent from the field, 14 percent from the three and 50 percent from the free throw line. WSU had 35 total rebounds, six assists, 20 turnovers and five steals.
WSU is now 2-2 overall on the season and will take on tournament host UTSA Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
