Wildcats hit the road to take on Pepperdine

Weber State  women's basketball continues the 2018-19 season with a road game at Pepperdine.

ON THE HORIZON

WSU will hit the road for two in-state rivalries starting with Utah on Dec. 15 at 2:00 p.m. and then Utah Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday Dec. 18.

WHAT'S GOOD?

  Weber State  is sitting at an even 3-3 overall record. 

WSU is currently on a one game winning streak. 

  WSU is returning just one starter from last years squad and three letterwinners.

  Head Coach Velaida Harris is in her first season leading the Wildcats and brought with her an all new staff in Darryl Brown and Amy Donovan as assistant coaches and Nate Levine as the video coordinator. 

NECESSARY QUICK NOTES

  The Wildcats are currently 3-3 on the season and are coming off a 68-63 win over UTEP. 

  Pepperdine is 4-1 on the season. 

  The Waves are currently on a one game winning streak. 

  This will be the fourth match up between Pepperdine and Weber State.

  Pepp is lead by head coach Delisha Milton-Jones who is in her second season.

Weber State had one Wildcat post a double-double so far on the year.

  WSU has four individuals averaging double figures so far this year. Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman averages 16.6, Kayla Watkins has 14.8, Emily Drake is 11.8 and Shianne Johnson at a 10.2. 

ON THE BRINK OF A TRIPLE-DOUBLE 

  Against UTEP Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman had her best stat line to date. She racked up 16 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds just one rebound and one assist away from a triple double.  She shot 4-8 from the field, 2-3 from the three and 6-6 from the free throw line. She also played the full 40 minutes. 

DOUBLE FIGURES AVERAGE

  WSU has four individuals averaging double figures so far this year. Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman averages 16.6, Kayla Watkins has 14.8, Emily Drake is 11.8 and Shianne Johnson at a 10.2.

  SERIES HISTORY 

This will be the fourth meeting between Weber State and Pepperdine.  WSU trails 1-2 in the overall series. WSU is currently on a one  game winning streak in the series. The Wildcats are 0-2 when taking on the Waves  in Malibu. The last time Weber State played in Malibu was in 1994 when WSU lost 82-94. 

  PREVIOUSLY AGAINST

The last time the two teams met up was in the 2017-18 season. The Wildcats downed the Waves 71-61 in Ogden. 

  ABOUT

The Waves currently have a 4-1overall record. They are coming off a 78-64 win to Seattle. Pepperdine is on a one game winning streak.  The Waves average 78.2 points per game. They are shooting 43 percent from the field going 149-344.  Pepperdine is 29-79 from the three and 64-98 from the free throw line for a .653 percentage.  

Pepperdine is led by Yasmine Robinson-Bacote who has 114 total points on the year and averages 22.8 per game. She's shooting 51 percent from the field and has gone 47-91.  

Robinson-Baote is the top rebounder for the Waves as well. She's pulled down 32 total on the year and averages 6.4 per game.
