OGDEN - Weber State men's basketball head coach Randy Rahe has announced the signing of guard Caleb Nero to join the Wildcats for the 2018-19 season.
Nero, 6-foot-2 guard, comes to Weber State out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was named the state MVP by the Tulsa World in 2017, after leading Tulsa Memorial High School to the 5A state title. He averaged 24.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, and shot 58 percent from the field as a senior where he was coached by Bobby Allison.Weber State men's basketball has signed guard Caleb Nero from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He originally signed to play at Milwaukee out of high school, but didn't attend because of a coaching change. He instead attended Sunrise Christian Prep Academy in Wichita, Kansas. He averaged 13 points, four assists and two rebounds per game at Sunrise where he was coached by Achoki Moikobu.
He also played AAU basketball for Team Griffin and was coached by Josh Gamblin.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Caleb join our program," Rahe said. "He's a terrific fit for our program and culture, and is a winning player. He is a high-character person with tremendous work ethic and is highly motivated to be the best he can be.
"Caleb is a very skilled athletic player that has a good feel for the game and can really score at all three levels," Rahe added. "He can play multiple positions for us, which we like our guys to be able to do, and has the physical tools to be an outstanding defender. He comes from a great family and has has been extremely well coached in high school, prep school and at the AAU level. There is no question that Caleb can come in and make a big immediate impact on our team next year."
