CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah beat Weber State for the second time this season as the Wildcats fell 65-53 Thursday night at the America First Center.
The Wildcats shot a season-low 32 percent from the field and were 3 of 14 from 3-point range. SUU also outrebounded Weber State 46-33.
The Thunderbirds never trailed and led by as many as 11 points in the first half. The Wildcats cut the lead to three points with 6:07 to play but SUU responded with a quick 6-0 run. The Thunderbirds closed the game on a 7-0 run in the final minute.
"We had no rhythm tonight and could get ourselves going offensively," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe "We've had a few guys that haven't practiced this week and that got us out of rhythm and we didn't't play well."
Michal Kozak led Weber State with 12 points, while Cody John added 11 with seven rebounds and three assists. They were the only two Wildcats in double figures. Brekkott Chapman had 10 rebounds for Weber State.
The loss drops WSU to 14-9 on the season and 8-4 in Big Sky play.
The Wildcats continue their road trip Saturday at Northern Arizona. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. Saturday in Flagstaff.
Weber State will return home to host Montana Thursday.
