FARMINGTON, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference has announced the men's and women's basketball schedules for the 2020-21 season.
The conference approved a 20-game conference season for its 11 member institutions with two contests against every other school, including home-and-home series with two opponents, while reducing travel and expenses. All games are scheduled for Thursday's and Saturday's.
The Wildcat men's team will open league play at Portland State on Dec. 3 and play the Vikings again in Portland on Dec. 5.
The rest of the conference season will begin on Dec. 31 when the 'Cats play at Idaho State, then host the Bengals in Ogden on Jan. 2, 2021.
WSU will then host Eastern Washington on Jan. 7 and 9, before a bye weekend. The 'Cats take on Southern Utah at home on Jan. 21, then play the Thunderbirds in Cedar City on Jan. 23.
WSU will also play home games against Montana State (Feb. 4 and 6), Northern Arizona (Feb. 18 and 20) and Northern Colorado (March 4 and 6) and will face road games at Idaho (Jan. 28 and 30), Montana (Feb. 11 and 13) and Sacramento State.
Wildcat head coach Randy Rahe returns for his 15th season as the head coach at Weber State and is the Big Sky's all-time winningest coach with 278 career victories.
This year's team has just four players returning from last year's team and the Wildcats welcomed nine new players to the roster, including five Division I transfers.
Both the men's and women's teams will compete at the 2021 Big Sky Basketball Championships in Boise, held at the newly renamed Idaho Central Arena. The tournament will be held from March 8-13 with all 22 men's and women's teams competing.
The non-conference schedule will be announced soon.
Ticket information for Wildcat basketball will also be announced later.
