Wildcats roll to 81-56 win at Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho - Weber State never trailed and cruised to an 81-56 win over the Idaho Vandals Thursday night at Memorial Gym in the first of two games this weekend. 
 
The game was tied 8-8 when the Wildcats went on a 12-0 run to make it 20-8 with 10:46 to play in the first half. The Wildcats led 37-28 at halftime. 
 
The game was never closer than seven points in the second half. The Wildcats went on a 15-4 run and led 60-37 with 11:36 to play and never looked back. WSU led by as many as 29 points late in the game.  
 
Weber State shot 50 percent from the field and the Wildcats have now shot 50 percent or better in four of the last five games. WSU was 9 of 20 from 3-point range, with seven 3's coming in the second half. The 'Cats were also 8 of 11 from the free throw line and had 14 steals, while Idaho committed 19 turnovers.  
 
"I thought we played with really good energy and competed really hard," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "We were able to take them out of what they wanted to do and forced a lot of turnovers. We are starting to get some things going and discovering our identity." 
 
Four Wildcats scored in double figures led by Zahir Porter who finished with 19 points. Porter was 7 of 11 from the field and had six rebounds and a career-high five steals. Isaiah Brown added 16 points with five assists and four steals.  
 
Seikou Sisoho Jawara added 14 points and Michal Kozak had 12 points and was a perfect 5 of 5 from the field, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range. 
 
The Wildcats improve to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play and have won five of their last six games. Idaho fell to 0-12 overall and 0-9 in Big Sky play. 
 
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT in Moscow. The game will be streamed on Pluto TV 1060 and broadcast on 103.1 FM "The Wave".
