PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Weber State women's basketball team rounded out its east coast road trip on Sunday morning by beating the Hartford Hawks 71-44.
The Wildcats were the better team throughout the game and had two of their best offensive quarters of the young season in Sunday's game. WSU opened the game by outscoring Hartford 18-6 in the first quarter, featuring seven of Daryn Hickok's game-high 21 points. The Wildcats shot 7-15 from the floor in the first.
The second quarter was much more competitive, but Hartford was only able to make up minimal ground on the Wildcats. Weber State outshot the Hawks (38%-33%) in the second quarter, and carried a 32-21 lead to the half.
Weber State put on an offensive clinic coming out of the locker rooms. The 'Cats went on a 9-2 run to open the third quarter and create further separation between the two sides. A Hickok layup punctuated the scoring for both sides in the third frame and extended Weber State's lead to 27 points heading into the fourth quarter.
The Wiildcat lead ballooned to 32 points following a Taylin Smith three pointer. The two teams stayed even in the fourth, each team scoring 14 points, and Weber State (3-3) leaves Providence having gone 2-1 in the Friar Thanksgiving Classic after their 71-44 win over the Hartford Hawks.

Everyone contributed and I am proud of the group. [...] It's good to get out of Rhode Island with two out of three in the win cloumn!" - Velaida Harris
