OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcat women's basketball team fell in a tightly contested game against the Utah State Aggies on Thursday night by a score of 74-69.
It was all Wildcats all the time to start the game. Weber State outscored the Aggies by five points in the first quarter. Two three pointers from Laura Taylor and an additional six points from Daryn Hickok helped anchor the Wildcat offense and were key to giving WSU a 16-11 lead by the end of the quarter.
Five more points from Hickok highlighted the second quarter for Weber State as they closed out the half with a 30-27 lead over the Aggies.
The first 11 Wildcat points of the third quarter were put up by Weber State's senior superstars, Hickok and Jadyn Matthews, and the Wildcat advantage ballooned as large as eight points in the opening moments of the third quarter. The Aggies battled back and closed the deficit to a single point prior to the start of the final frame.
A little over halfway through the fourth quarter, a pair of Laura Taylor free throws extended the Wildcat lead to six points at 62-56, but the Aggies started their ferocious comeback. Utah State went on an 18-7 run to close the night and finish the game with a final score of 74-69.

QUOTABLES
"A rough loss for us tonight. We get 27 and 12 from Monka, 19 and 11 from Jadyn and a solid all around game from LT. That would normally feel great. We (can't) give up five threes in the fourth quarter to anybody. That's about having some toughness on the defensive end. We had a lot of opportunities under two minutes to get some points back, but that came down to (defense). The ladies know it, acknowledge it, and will return ready to fight on Saturday. Thank you to all who came ou to the game tonight. We certainly love the support and the energy." – Velaida Harris
