OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State women's basketball team got back on track on Saturday afternoon with a big 64-51 victory over the Seattle Redhawks.
Jadyn Matthews helped the Wildcats get off to a hot start on Saturday afternoon. Matthews' 10 points on 3-3 shooting and three assists were vital in Weber State taking an 18-11 lead into the second quarter.
Weber State's offense stayed hot in the second quarter. Three pointers from Laura Taylor and Taylin Smith aided the Wildcat offensive effort to close out the half. Daryn Hickok and Kaiija Lesane each scored five points in the second quarter, and Charlotte Hegvold added an additional four points to stretch the Wildcat advantage to 39-21 at the break.
Coming out of the break, Weber State shot 5-12 from the floor in the third quarter and out-rebounded the Redhawks 8-6. Vicky Parra and Hickok each tallied four points and Weber State finished out the third quarter with a 19-point edge over Seattle.
Things slowed down for the Wildcats a little bit in the fourth quarter, but WSU had enough points in the bank where it was able to comfortably cruise to a 64-51 victory to get back in the win column.
With the win, Weber State (4-4, 0-0) gets back to .500, Seattle (0-7, 0-0) remains winless on the year.

QUOTABLES
"Attacking the basket was working more for me than anything else. Playing off my teammates was working, too. That dog that we have in the first quarter, we've got to take that throughout the rest of the game. […] It was a good bounce back win after a tough loss. We've got another week of tough games coming up, it's good to get this kind of start to the week." – Daryn Hickok
"The team is resilient, which is good. We had a disappointing loss and had to put that behind us. Everyone was going to get the chance to go in. What I liked is that in the first half, everyone who came in contributed and that was a big point of emphasis. I was proud of our bench. In the second half, I told them that we can't think that we're up 19 and the game is over. This is college basketball. In the third quarter we did ok. In the fourth quarter it came down to execution […] We need to listen, and execute. We are going to Tarleton who we beat here last year, and I know they've been waiting for us. […] We have to be so much more disciplined, but I'm really proud that we got back to .500. I'm really proud of that. – Velaida Harris
