POCATELLO, Idaho – In a back-and-forth affair against the Idaho State Bengals, the Weber State women's basketball team fell 65-52.
The first quarter was highlighted by six points from Vicky Parra – including a fancy reverse layup – and a buzzer-beating three pointer from Daryn Hickok that closed the gap to just three points at the end of the first quarter.
An Emri Lovell three pointer with 3:34 left in the half cut WSU's deficit to just two points at 22-20, but the Bengals went on a six-point run to close out the second quarter and extend their advantage to eight points.
The third quarter ended in a scoring flurry from the Wildcats. A 13-4 run, including seven points from WSU's all-conference performer, Hickok, cut the gap to just a pair of points heading into the fourth quarter.
Three consecutive free throws from Jadyn Matthews early on in the fourth quarter turned the tides in favor of the visiting Wildcats and gave Velaida Harris' squad a 42-41 lead with just 7:47 remaining in the game, but that was the last time the Wildcats would lead over the defending Big Sky Conference champions. ISU defended its home
