'Cats fall in road game at BYU

Weber State plays at Boise State Monday night.
PROVO, Utah - Weber State lost its second game of the season, falling 77-49 to BYU Friday at the Marriott Center.
The game began at 11 a.m. and was played in front of approximately 5,000 elementary school children.
BYU jumped out a 22-8 lead after the first quarter as the Cougars were 9 of 11 from the field with two 3-pointers. BYU led 45-14 at halftime.
The Wildcats outscored the Cougars 20-16 in the third quarter and had an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter to cut it to 66-44 before BYU pulled away.
The Cougars shot 57 percent from the field and were 8 of 16 from 3-point range. Weber State shot 33 percent and knocked down seven 3-pointers. BYU outrebounded the Wildcats 39-20.
Weber State was led by Jadyn Matthews and Kendra Parra who each finished with 11 points. Matthews added three rebounds and three assists and Parra also dished out three assists.
Daryn Hickok and Laura Taylor each had eight points for the Wildcats and Sierra Davis added seven.
Weber State continues its road trip Monday night in a 6:30 p.m. tipoff at Boise State. The Wildcats are playing their first seven games on the road.
