MISSOULA, Mont. – The Weber State Wildcat women's basketball team closed out a two-game road trip by falling to the Montana Grizzlies 65-48.
The Griz came out looking sharp and started the game with a 9-2 run and stayed hot throughout the first quarter. Montana held a 20-9 advantage through the opening period, four of WSU's points came from all-conference performer Daryn Hickok.
The Wildcat attack was focused on the mid-range in the second quarter and the Cats knocked a few jumpers in during the frame, but Montana carried a 36-15 lead into halftime.
A Hickok jumper to go with a three pointer from Laura Taylor started the third quarter in style for Weber State. Just over two minutes in, Emri Lovell tacked on another three pointer followed by a Taylor lay in to make it a 10-2 Weber State run. The 'Cats outscored the Griz 19-14 in the third to cut into the Montana lead.
Jadyn Matthews opened the final quarter with a jumper to help WSU inch closer and make the score 50-36, but Weber State never got closer than 14 points in the fourth quarter. Montana took the win in Dahlberg Arena.
