Lillard won the 3-point contest in a Weber State jersey, was the first pick of the All-Star draft, and scored the game-winning basket for team Giannis in the All-Star game in Salt Lake City.

It was a memorable Homecoming All-Star weekend for Weber State legend Damian Lillard. Lillard returned to Utah for the NBA All-Star weekend and represented his alma mater Weber State in historic ways.

It was the seventh All-Star selection for Lillard but this one was extra special as he returned to Utah, where he played four seasons at Weber State.

During NBA All-Star Saturday night, Lillard competed in the 3-point contest. As a tribute to Weber State, he donned a special “Dame D.O.L.L.A” All-Star Weber State jersey in his Wildcat No. 1 jersey.

“We are back in Utah and I spent four years here so I wanted to show some love to the alma mater,” Lillard said.

Wearing the Wildcat jersey, Lillard won the title of theNBA 3-point contest. He totaled 26 points in the finals, including making his final 3-point attempt to seal the win.

On Sunday, Lillard competed in the All-Star game for the seventh time. He was the first pick of the All-Star draft by NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Lillard scored 26 points in 23 minutes in the game, with eight 3-pointers. He closed the game with a 3-pointer for the game-winning basket to give Team Giannis a 184-175 win over Team LeBron.

Lillard’s legacy to Weber State continues. He played four years at Weber State from 2008-12. He was a two-time Big Sky MVP and earned Third Team All-America honors in 2012, the only player from the Big Sky to ever be named to an All-America team. He also was a three-time All-Big Sky first-team selection in his three full seasons for Randy Rahe and the Wildcats. He finished his career second in school history with 1,934 points.

Lillard declared for the NBA Draft in 2012 and was drafted sixth overall by the Portland Trail Blazers. He is now Portland’s all-time leading scorer.

He has been the host for four Weber State Men’s Basketball Alumni Classics with another planned for the summer of 2023.
