Dillon Jones earns fifth Big Sky Player of the Week honor this season

Jones averaged 22 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game and shot 61 percent in WSU’s three games last week.

For the fifth time this season, Weber State's Dillon Jones has been named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week.
Jones earned the honor for his performance in Weber State's last three regular season games where averaged 22 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists and shot 61 percent from the field. He scored at least 21 points in all three games and also had two double-doubles.
The five Player of the Week honors is the most by a Wildcat since Damian Lillard earned five awards during the 2011-12 season. This is the eighth career Player of the Week honor for Jones, including back-to-back weeks.
He posted 21 points with nine rebounds and five assists against league-leading Eastern Washington on Thursday and was 8 of 9 from the free throw line.
He had 21 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists in Saturday's win over Idaho, and followed that up with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists in Monday's overtime win at Northern Arizona. He played all 45 minutes of the game and was 9 of 10 from the field, including 3 of 4 from the free throw line.
In the three games, he was 24 of 39 from the field for 61.5 percent shooting. He made five 3-pointers and was 13 of 16 from the free throw line. He averaged 37.6 minutes per game in the three games.
The Columbia, South Carolina native closed out one of the best regular seasons in recent history. He now has 19 double-doubles on the season, the third-most by any player in the country.. Jones is first in the nation in defensive rebounds at 10.2 per game, over two rebounds per game above second place. He also ranks sixth in the country in overall rebounds per game at 11.0. He has double figures in rebounding in 20 of 29 games this season. He led Weber State in rebounding in all 18 Big Sky games and has done so in 28 of his 29 games.
Jones leads Weber State in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He ranks in the top 10 in the Big Sky in eight different statistical categories. He leads the league in rebounding, defensive rebounding, and minutes played at 35.5 minutes per game. He is eighth in the conference in scoring at 16.6 points per game. He has scored in double figures in 26 of 29 games and has reached 20 or more points 10 times, including the last four and five of the last six games.
He also ranks second in the Big Sky in steals, fourth in assists, fifth in free throw percentage, and eighth in field goal percentage.
He also continues to move up in the Wildcat record books. He is now 25th in career scoring with 1,102 points in 86 games. He ranks fifth in career rebounding with 812 and eighth in career rebounding average. He is also fifth in career field goal percentage and 10th in career free throw percentage.
Weber State finished the regular season at 17-14 overall and 12-6 in Big Sky play, third in the conference standings. The Wildcats will play No. 6 seed Sacramento State in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinals on Monday, March 6 at 8 p.m. in Boise, Idaho.
