'Cats Fight Hard, Fall to MSU

BOZEMAN, Mont. – After a hard-fought first half, the Weber State Wildcat women's basketball team fell to the Montana State Bobcats on Thursday evening in Bozeman by a score of 75-60.
Paced by six points from Daryn Hickok, the Wildcats outscored MSU in the first quarter 16-14. Hickok closed the quarter with a buzzer-beating three pointer from way outside to give WSU the lead heading into the break.
An outside shot from Laura Taylor to go along with a three from Kaiija Lesane aided the Wildcat offensive effort in the second quarter. Weber State carried its two-point lead into the locker rooms at 28-26.
An early layup from Hickok to go with another pair of points in the paint from Jadyn Matthews extended the Wildcat advantage to half a dozen points, but the first-place Bobcats came storming back. MSU closed the quarter on a five-point run to regain the lead at 42-37.
Montana State turned it up another notch in the fourth ended the night with a 75-60 win to remain atop the Big Sky standings.
NOTABLES
-Hickok notched another double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
-Matthews finished with another strong effort scoring 15 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
-WSU made five three pointers compared to just two for Montana State.
