2023-24 Big Sky men's and women's basketball schedules announced

Both Wildcat teams will play an 18-game conference regular season beginning December 28.
OGDEN - The Big Sky Conference has announced the men's and women's basketball schedules for the 2023-24 seasons.Â
Each team will play a full 18-game conference schedule beginning on December 28 and concluding on March 4.Â
Once again the men's and women's Big Sky Championships will be held March 9-13 at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho with all 10 schools participating.Â
MEN
The Wildcat men's team will open the conference season at home with two longtime rivals. The 'Cats will host Montana on December 28 and Montana State on December 30.Â
After two non-conference games against South Dakota State and Oral Roberts in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, Weber State will return to Big Sky play on January 11 at Sacramento State, followed by a game at Portland State.Â
The Wildcats will conclude the home season on February 29 against Northern Colorado and March 2 against Northern Arizona. The final conference regular season game will be on March 4 at defending conference champion Montana State.Â
Weber State returns four starters from last year's team that finished 18–15 overall and was third in the Big Sky at 12-6. The Wildcats return Dillon Jones who earned first-team All-Big Sky and all-district honors last year and recently competed in the NBA Draft combine. Also returning is senior Steven Verplancken who earned third-team all-conference honors last year.Â
Eric Duft returns for his second season as head coach and his 18th season on the staff with the Wildcats.Â
WOMEN
The Wildcat women's team will be under the direction of new head coach Jenteal Jackson, who became the seventh head coach in Weber State history in April.Â
WSU will open the conference season on December 28 at Montana and December 30 at Montana State. The 'Cats are then scheduled to play Western Illinois and Missouri-Kansas City in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, and will then return to conference play hosting Sacramento State on January 11 and Portland State on January 13.Â
Weber State will host Montana State on March 4 in the final regular season game.Â
The Wildcats have nine players returning from last year's team, including Daryn Hickock who earned third-team all-conference honors last season, and seniors Jadyn Matthews and Laura Taylor. WSU has added five new players to this year's squad.Â
