Weber State drops Homecoming game 21-17

OGDEN - Weber State had five turnovers and dropped a Homecoming game 21-17 to Northern Colorado Saturday night at Stewart Stadium. 
The 'Cats lost four fumbles and threw one interception as the Bears beat the Wildcats for the first time since 2012.
Weber State totaled 401 yards of offense, compared to 321 for Northern Colorado. The 'Cats had 230 yards rushing and 171 yards passing.
The Wildcats had two lost fumbles at the goal line in the first half. WSU scored on a Richie Muñoz 1-yard touchdown run with 2:58 to play in the first quarter to go up 7-0.
The Wildcats led 14-7 at halftime after Muñoz found Jacob Sharp for a 29-yard touchdown.
After a 32-yard field goal by Kyle Thompson early in the third quarter, WSU led 17-7, but after another Wildcat fumble, Northern Colorado scored again to cut the lead to 17-14 with 7:29 to play in the third quarter.
UNC led 21-17 with 6:14 to play in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats could not score on their final two possessions.
WSU was 4 of 13 on third down conversions and Northern Colorado converted twice on fourth down attempts in the fourth quarter, then had an interception in the final minute to seal the win.
Muñoz was 13 of 26 passing for 171 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 59 yards and another touchdown. Marcus Chretien had four catches for 57 yards to lead the receivers.
Damon Bankston had 16 carries for 108 yards, his fourth time reaching 100 yards in a game this season.
Raimoana Tiniruarii led the defense with a career-high 15 tackles. EJ Evett had nine tackles, followed by seven for Brayden Wilson. The 'Cats did not have a sack and had three tackles for loss.
WSU dropped to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Big Sky Conference play.
The Wildcats return to the road for a nationally-ranked matchup at Sacramento State next Saturday.
