'Cats picked third in Big Sky preseason media poll; Miguel Tomley named to preseason All-Big Sky team

The Wildcats open the regular season on November 4.
It's almost time for Wildcat basketball.
The Weber State men's basketball team has been picked third and fourth in the Big Sky Conference preseason polls, released Wednesday. The Wildcats are third in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll for the 2024-25 season.
In addition, Weber State senior transfer Miguel Tomley has been named to the preseason all-conference team.
Montana State was picked to finish first in the media poll with 14 first-place votes, with Montana second and Weber State third. The Wildcats picked up seven first-place votes.
In the coaches poll, Montana was first with seven first-place votes, followed by Montana State, Northern Colorado, and Weber State, which garnered one first-place vote.
Tomley is one of six players named to the preseason team, which the coaches vote on. Tomley transferred to Weber State this summer after two seasons at Idaho State. Last season, he led the Big Sky in 3-point percentage and 3-pointers per game and finished ninth in the league in scoring. He also earned Big Sky All-Tournament honors last season.
He also played two seasons at Santa Clara before Idaho State. He enters the 2024-25 season having played in 92 career games and has scored more than 900 career points with 157 3-pointers.
Head coach Eric Duft returns for his third season as head coach of the Wildcats and his 19th season on the WSU staff. The 'Cats lost Big Sky MVP Dillon Jones to the NBA after last season.
Weber State returns three starters off last year's team in Blaise Threatt, Dyson Koehler, and Alex Tew. Weber State also added seven new players, including three Division I transfers.
The Wildcats host a free exhibition game on Monday, October 28 against Adams State.
The regular season begins on Monday, November 4 with a home game against Northwest Indian College. The Wildcats have 16 games at home this season, including non-conference games against UC Irvine, North Dakota State, and Utah Valley.
