The Wildcats and Aggies will play on October 18 in Logan, with proceeds benefitting CAPSA.

OGDEN - Weber State men's basketball and Utah State will play a preseason charity exhibition game in Logan on Friday, October 18. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

All net proceeds from the game will benefit CAPSA, a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape recovery center serving Cache Valley and the Bear Lake area. CAPSA offers free and confidential services, including a 24/7 crisis support line, emergency shelter, transitional housing, clinical therapy, casework, and advocacy. CAPSA is committed to empowering survivors, preventing abuse, and fostering long-term safety through education and community engagement. Last year alone, CAPSA supported 2,429 individuals, helping them rebuild their lives and regain independence.

Seating will be general admission and adult tickets are available for $10 with youth tickets available for $5.

The game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and on the radio on KZNS 1280/97.5.

"We are extremely excited to be a participant in an exhibition game against the storied Utah State basketball program," said Weber State head coach Eric Duft. "While it is a great event for our fanbases in Northern Utah, it is even more importantly an opportunity to raise money for CAPSA and their mission to provide support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Logan area. We also look forward to continuing the partnership to benefit charities in the Ogden community next year."

"We are excited to bring coach Duft and the Weber State Wildcats to the Spectrum for an exciting night of basketball and to benefit the CAPSA organization," said Utah State first-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun. "This is an outstanding opportunity against a great in-state opponent, but above all the opportunity to contribute to CAPSA as they make a positive impact on our community. The work that CAPSA does in supporting victims of domestic violence cannot be understated. They provide numerous services to protect and empower survivors while working with the ultimate goal of ending domestic violence in our community. We are grateful that Weber State has teamed up with us for such a great cause."

"CAPSA is thankful to be recognized by Utah State University's and Weber State's basketball teams for the vital work we do in providing domestic and sexual violence services," said Jill Anderson, CEO of CAPSA. "Our work is built on community-wide support, ensuring that every victim of abuse has access to safety, advocacy, and healing. We are honored to be acknowledged for the impact we have in supporting survivors and strengthening our community."

This will be the first of two scheduled exhibition games for Weber State prior to the 2024-25 season. The Wildcats will host Adams State on October 28 at the Dee Events Center.

The Wildcats and Aggies have met 74 times in their history. The Wildcats won the last meeting 75-72 in December 2022 in Logan.

The 2024-25 regular season for the Wildcats will begin on November 4. The Wildcats will have 16 home games this season, including non-conference home games against UC Irvine, North Dakota State, and Utah Valley, along with a full Big Sky Conference schedule.

Duft returns for his third season as head coach of the Wildcats. Weber State won 20 games last season but lost Big Sky MVP Dillon Jones to the NBA.

The Wildcats return three starters and five players that played on last year's team, and welcomes several new players, including four Division I transfers.

Season tickets for Wildcat basketball are on sale now.
