'Cats fall 31-24 to eighth-ranked Vandals in Moscow

Weber State's final home game is next Saturday against Cal Poly.
The Vandals had 20 first downs and totaled 419 yards to win their fourth straight game. Weber State had 296 yards of total offense with 218 receiving yards and 78 yards rushing.Â
WSU had two first half touchdowns both coming on fourth and one situations on the one-yard line.Â
Early in the second quarter on a fourth and one at the one-yard line, Richie Muñoz found Keayen Nead for a touchdown, Nead's first of the season, which tied the game at 7-7.Â
Idaho added a 50-yard field goal with 2:41 left in the second quarter to take a 10-7 lead.Â
After another 47-yard kickoff return by Noah Kjar, Weber State drove down again to the one-yard line and again had a fourth and one. Muñoz kept the ball and scored 1-yard run and Weber State held a 14-10 lead at halftime.Â
The Vandals opened the second half with a field goal to cut the lead to 14-13. After a field goal, Idaho scored again on a 16-yard touchdown with 8:28 to play in the fourth quarter to took a 23-14 lead.Â
The 'Cats responded with a 65-yard drive, capped by a 31-yard field goal by Kyle Thompson that made it 23-17 with 3:42 to play.Â
Idaho scored on its next possession on a 74-yard pass completion to take a 31-17 lead with 43 seconds to play.Â
Muñoz found Jacob Sharp for a 57-yard touchdown with 43 seconds remaining.Â
Muñoz finished with 207 passing yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 12 yards and another touchdown.Â
Damon Bankston had 11 carries for 54 yards rushing. Sharp had three catches for 67 yards and Davion Godley had six receptions for 35 yards.Â
On defense, Mayson Hitchens had 10 tackles and Garrett Beck and Brayden Wilson each had six. Kemari Munier-Bailey, a former Vandal, had four tackles with one tackle for loss.Â
Kjar had two kickoff returns for 60 yards and one punt return for 43 yards. Oscar Doyle averaged 44.3 yards per punt on seven punts.Â
The Wildcats will conclude the season next Saturday hosting Cal Poly in a 1 p.m. kickoff at Stewart Stadium. It also will be Senior Day for seven Wildcat seniors.Â
