Wildcats fall to Hornets on the road

Sacramento, CA – Defeated by Sacramento State 75-44 on Saturday afternoon, the Weber State women's basketball team falls 4-8 in the Big Sky.
Sacramento State hit Weber State with an early 10-4 lead after five minutes. Jadyn Matthews scored the team's first shot with a 3-pointer. Down the stretch of the quarter, Taylor Smith and Daryn Hickok converted their layups and helped cut down the Hornets lead. The Wildcats trailed 10-22 after the first ten minutes of action, shooting just 25 percent.
A four-point run made by the Hornets started the first three minutes of the second quarter. WSU looked to chip away at the lead, as the team made a pair of jumpers to get on the scoreboard. However, the Hornets continued to score closing the half with the advantage 33-18.
The third quarter followed a similar path with Sacramento State maintaining its lead. It was a low-scoring quarter for the Wildcats with 10 points compared to the Hornets 20.
Continuing to struggle into the final 10 minutes of game play, Sacramento State walked away with a 75-44 win over Weber State.

- Hickok was close to a double-double this afternoon leading the Wildcats with 18 points and eight rebounds.
- Weber State shot only 28 percent from the field compared to Sacramento State's 47 percent.
