Historic All-Star weekend for Weber State's Damian Lillard

Lillard won the 3-point contest and was named All-Star MVP, the first player ever to do so in the same year.
Damian Lillard added even more to his legacy.
It was another historic All-Star weekend for Lillard who became the first player ever to win the 3-point contest and be named MVP of the game in the same year.
It started on Saturday night in Indianapolis at the NBA All-Star Saturday Night 3-point contest. Lillard won the 2023 title in Salt Lake City wearing a Weber State jersey. He followed it up as a back-to-back champion in 2024 with a winning score of 26 in the final round.

On Sunday, Lillard made his eighth all-start appearance and his first as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. It was also his first time as a starter in the All-Star game.
In the game Lillard scored 39 points with 11 3-pointers and dished out six assists. He helped lead the East All-Stars to a 211-186 victory over the West.
His 11 3-pointers included several half-court shots.

Lillard’s legacy to Weber State continues. He played four years at Weber State from 2008-12. He was a two-time Big Sky MVP and earned Third Team All-America honors in 2012, the only player from the Big Sky to ever be named to an All-America team. He also was a three-time All-Big Sky first-team selection in his three full seasons for Randy Rahe and the Wildcats. He finished his career second in school history with 1,934 points.
Lillard declared for the NBA Draft in 2012 and was drafted sixth overall by the Portland Trail Blazers. He is Portland’s all-time leading scorer. He was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team as one of the top players in NBA history.
He has been the host for five Weber State Men’s Basketball Alumni Classics.
