Micah Cloward named Director of Sports Performance

Weber State Athletics has announced the hiring of Micah Cloward as the Director of Sports Performance. Cloward will work primarily with the WSU football team and assist with all other Wildcat teams.Â
Cloward comes to Weber State with an extensive background in strength and conditioning. He is certified as a CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.Â
He comes to Weber State after spending the last three years as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.Â
He has also spent time in strength and conditioning at Illinois, Oregon State, Wisconsin, Utah State, and Idaho State.Â
Prior to Sioux Falls, Cloward was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the University of Illinois football program from January 2018 to 2021. In 2017, he served as interim head football strength and conditioning coach at Oregon State where he had been an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football and women's swimming since 2015. Â
He was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Wisconsin from 2013-15 where he worked with football, women's volleyball, and men's and women's track and field. He was an assistant strength and conditioning coach (2011-13) and served as an intern for strength and conditioning (2010-11) at Utah State where he worked with football, men's basketball, women's volleyball, men's golf, and men's and women's tennis.
From 2007-09, he was an intern in strength and conditioning at Idaho State. As an intern, he worked with football, men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, and softball.
Cloward, a native of Casper, Wyoming, played football at Idaho State in the Big Sky from 2006-08. He was a two-time Academic All-Big Sky performer and graduated from ISU in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and earned a master's degree in Physical Education, Athletic Administration in 2010.Â
He also played football at Snow College from 2004-05.Â
He and his wife, Rachel, have two daughters, Marley and Palmer.
